AEI accepts Safety Award from OSHA!!!

On October 14, 2009 AEI received an award from OSHA for completing one million manhours of continuous work without a lost work day. This is the acceptance speech Jeff Landreth gave at the OSHA Conference after being presented the award from Jim Garner, Kansas Secretary of the Department of Labor.

OSHA Milestone Award

One Million Manhours Without A Lost Work Day Case

Thank you so much Secretary Garner, it is quite an honor to accept this award for AEI.  An achievement of this magnitude is not possible without a lot of people and organizations working together and I would like to thank the people from OSHA and the Sharps program for their time, input, and patience with us during this effort.  I believe the job of a leader is to formulate a clear vision of what a company should look and act like and to set the expectations of the organization, to surround yourself with people who share your vision, that can formulate plans to achieve the expectation, to provide the tools to do the job, and to get out of the way and let the people involved in the processes be owners of the plan and it’s execution.  I would like to thank Larry Landreth, our Director of Safety, for developing the blueprint for achieving this success and for putting the team together to develop and execute the plan.  Most of all I would like to thank the employees of AEI for taking ownership in the vision, developing the policies and procedures, and executing to the plan.  Without our employees ownership and involvement there would not be an award because there would not have been a success story.  I gladly accept this award and would like to, in turn, present it to Mike Harness and David Meiring, two of our employees who represent our workforce at AEI.  Thanks Dave and Mike for your involvement and for all our employees’ efforts.  I would like for you to take time to share this experience with all our employees, and again, to the OSHA organization:

Thank You Very Much!!

Jeff Landreth
